Sunset Blue has a warm, buttery texture with hints of lime and is made with pasteurized cows milk, using vegetable rennet. It has the natural product Annatto added to give it the distinctive Apricot/ blue colour. This radiant blue cheese is a favourite for many. Sunset blue obtained its name by me (Janet) having a glass of wine during a thunderstorm at home in Masterton just as the setting sun sent pink rays through the black storm clouds, the perfect day to name a blue cheese !!. Savor by itself or with winter fruit & port. Kingsmeade Sunset Blue has a small claim to fame for having been on the menu at Premier House and sampled by Prince William at the Prime Ministers banquet (as told to us by the Chef ) and he went back for seconds !!.
